Case Study - Blackpool Council
What do they do?
Blackpool Council is a major public sector organisation.
Why did they need our help?
The Council had to produce, print and post 81,000 Council Tax bills and letters in a single ten-day window, plus an additional 21,000 Housing Benefit letters over the following month. The total value due was over £100million.
The problem? Their established technology would have struggled to cope with this task.
They wanted to implement a solution which provided extensive security controls and delivered processing efficiencies within theirpayroll and finance departments
How did we help them?
We suggested that Blackpool Council use our Managed Services.
Using address and billing data which they supplied, our system then generated personalised bills and letters which were matched and enclosed in envelopes along with related Council leaflets.
All items were accounted for and mismatches eliminated.
What’s more, the efficiency of preparation means Blackpool Council now benefits from substantial postage discounts, and staff can concentrate on their core roles at a busy time of the Council year.
What do they have to say about us?
“We have found the service cost effective, and have found Bottomline to be responsive to our needs”.
“Communication has been timely and effective throughout the project. The service has been excellent and the finished product – the printed documentation – was to the specified standard. It has been reassuring that Bottomline has been flexible in dealing with us, especially given the changing legislation relating to Council Tax billing”.
Graeme Ruse, Principal Officer for Income Recovery.
